ABOUT ME

I was born in Geneva, Switzerland, grew up in Montana, and have spent the past 20+ years living in Washington and Oregon state. The blue and white china I grew up so accustomed to from my Northern Ireland born mom, to my Norwegian family roots of simplicity, functionality and use of natural materials with a focus of function over form, have influenced the way I design and how I interpret my surroundings. Raising my three kids in a small Washington community, along with spending our pastime in the mountains and orchard and hills of the valley, feed my inspiration and creativity and keep me grounded.

KATE + DESIGN spans both residential and commercial projects. I have recently opened our studio in Bend, Oregon with a store to come with our new stoneware and children's books.

Design services cover new construction, remodel, home staging and procurement of unique furniture, art and objects. I am formally trained with a Master of Arts in Interior Design and enjoy each stage of the design process, from early schematics to the finishing touches.
